Typeface Design

Based entirely upon a sketch for a singular capital 'Q', the letterforms for Quarius were initially inspired by Didot and the geometric qualities and proportions found in modern typefaces. Each letteform was approached as an opportunity to imbue the typeface with qualities of elegance and refinement.

Quarius is intended primarily for use in print due to its fine serifs. With generously open counters, a tall x-height, and the contrast between thick and thin strokes, Quarius may be used as both a body and display typeface. Signature characters include the capital ā€˜Qā€™, the lowercase ā€˜gā€™, and the ampersand.
